By all means, Mr. President and Madame Secretary.  Let’s demand that Honduras reinstate this freakshow:

It’s been 89 days since Manuel Zelaya was booted from power. He’s sleeping on chairs, and he claims his throat is sore from toxic gases and “Israeli mercenaries” are torturing him with high-frequency radiation.

“We are being threatened with death,” he said in an interview with The Miami Herald, adding that mercenaries were likely to storm the embassy where he has been holed up since Monday and assassinate him.

Brazilian Foreign Minister Celso Amorim told CNN en Español that his government asked Zelaya to tone down his rhetoric while he remains an embassy guest.

“The word `death’ should not even be mentioned,” he said.

Send Zelaya a tin foil hat express. Do you think Obama and Clinton are even a little embarrassed by their protegé?

Katherine,
Methinks that based on their past records, nothing can embarrass those two.

The Israelis would send elements of Special Forces Operational Detachment Alef, also known as Dalet Force.

This guy is an embarrassment to his country and a disgrace to democracy… He typifies the phrase “banana republic.” No wonder people in central and south American dislike us… Our leaders support morons like Zelaya, dump nations who are very friendly to the USA and generally behave as if they didn’t have a clue… makes me pity the foo’

But you see Zelaya wants to amend the Honduran Constitution so that he can be President for life. That’s the sort of change Obama BELIEVES in.

Would that Israeli operatives were functioning there. They’d deserve a great big “mazel tov” and “keep it up all through the new year.”

I agree. And then there is this guy, Zelaya, …

How do we end up on the wrong side of issues like this? We owe the people of Honduras an apology for supporting this whack job. Notice that former Clown President Zalaya says he “proposed dialogue” and he claims he was answered with a pretty stern “no” in the form of “bullets, bombs, a state of siege and by closing the airport.” Interesting that the Hondurans saw the proposal for dialogue for what it was: A way to freeze the opposition while Zalaya takes ground. Does this “feint with dialogue to capture ground” strategy remind us of anything?

I’ll give Mel this much: he is breathing toxic gases – the usual pollution of Tegucigalpa.

I was in Honduras the week before Zelaya was removed from office (we left the day before the so-called coup). There was much talk of the political situation, but I do not remember hearing any Honduran speak well of Mel. Everyone feared that he wanted to change the Constituion – to his own advantage.

The real issue is that Mr. Obama has no regard for OUR Constitution, let alone the Constitution of Honduras!
