WHY TRUMP WON

People won’t vote for you if you hate them:

The predominant narrative coming out of the 2016 presidential post-election analysis is: The flyover states have spoken.

A flyover state is the huge region between the coasts. As opposed to the eastern seaboard, northern post-industrial states and Pacific Ocean states. They’re overwhelmingly Republican, stanchly conservative, regressive right wing, evangelical Christian and working class, well, the loudest, most ill-informed of them are. The term wasn’t commonly used in a political manner until recently with the emergence of the Tea Party and the election of Obama.

A visit to Wichita, Kan., isn’t on the bucket list of many Americans. Whereas most travelers fly over Fayetteville, Ark., and Springfield, Mo. They’re not destination spots. The flyover state gripe has nothing to do with the tourist industry of Oklahoma or Nebraska or Iowa. This is about their perceived feelings of abandonment and disrespect from their government. Never mind they’ve elected local, state and national representatives that should reflect their values and interests.

Now they’ve elected Donald Trump, the ultimate coastal elite. Trump pandered to their bigotry, and anger at Washington, D.C.

The more entrenched the flyover voting bloc becomes in their voting habits, the further they fall behind economically, by voting against their own interests, the more they blame Washington, D.C. and coastal “liberal elites” for their issues.

This is a voter demographic fond of describing themselves as hard-working middle-class Americans. Which they are. They’re overwhelmingly middle-aged to senior, white, semi-rural, increasingly suburban and indignant. They seem to be perpetually enraged every election cycle, and after, according to the results.

They either want their country back or they’re tired of being ignored. They regularly blurt the latter as justification for electing right-wing theocrat/closed minds, austerity minded, cultural fascists to office. These are people that use more government subsidy than any segment of the country, but they hate “handouts” to anyone else. They are the largest consumers of SNAP benefits, Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.

The alleged silent majority is deafening and easily provoked. They reside in their own echo-chamber bubble of indignation about everything from “New York values” (urban, ethnic rights, LGBT, social justice), to the war on Christmas and Black Lives Matter. They mocked and derided all people’s protests from Occupy to #NoDAPL. Their old standbys are opposing a woman’s right to choose, reinstituting school prayer and eradicating “big government.” They hate progress. Their idea of American values is straight from circa 1870.

Bitter much, douchebag?

Now you know why the concept of secession is not a dead letter by any stretch of the imagination.  I joke about it around here a lot but I’m genuinely coming to believe that it might actually happen in this country again.

The greatest real haters are the liberal progressives and even more especially vindictive when they get beaten in a fair political fight by those whom they perceive as their much inferior “deplorables”!!!

Why they even hold it against the “deplorables” that the USA is made up of 50 States, all of whom are given a say in the destiny of the Constitutional Republic, by their very same Constitution.

” They reside in their own echo-chamber bubble of indignation”
Excuse me! But just who is it that has been throwing temper tantrums and pity parties the last month?

Got it. Liberal/Progressives/Leftists/Democrats (but I repeat myself) are the only ones entitled to get what they want. All others are subhuman and bigots. They are not entitled to any thing unless it is what the Liberal/Progressives/Leftists/Democrats want.

“They seem to be perpetually enraged every election cycle, and after, according to the results.” But who is in the streets rioting?

Straighten out where people get to pee & you get a raise. Else, shut up & listen to your betters.

Keep it up, Democrat elite. The longer you fail to understand what’s happening the more you’ll lose elections. Calling people bigots worked out so well for you this time.

What’s worse than a bigot?

A Bigot who doesn’t realize he’s a bigot.
(Hill, look in the mirror!)
Lord, how she must have hated living in Arkansas all those years!

They mocked and derided all people’s protests from Occupy to #NoDAPL.

Never heard of #NoDAPL. If I looked it up, would I have to put it on my “mock and deride” list?

Their old standbys are opposing a woman’s right to choose, reinstituting school prayer and eradicating “big government.”

If that is what we hateful bigots want in our own states, who are you to tell us not to? And if we really are disgusting enough to never consider visiting, what difference does it make to you? Does hateful bigotry arise like a stench to contaminate the cabin air?

Their idea of American values is straight from circa 1870.

I was unaware that America was a shining example of “values” in either 1870 or 2016. As my Jehovah’s Witness assistant said when invited to a new-agey find-yourself workshop, “I already have a religion.” At any rate, should “values” or moral teachings differ between 1870 and 2016?

I think it’s “No Dakota Access Pipeline.” Can’t tell protest movements apart without a program these days. They’re all drawing from the same general population, though, and from some of the same funding sources.

Duane piles on so much cow cr@p here I’m not sure what to say. I guess I’ll just note that Leftists only see “progress” in one direction…theirs! That is utterly artificial. In reality, the only true progress comes when you realize that you are heading in the wrong direction and you turn yourself around.

Good Lord. Maybe a little less fiber in the diet would help, or getting adequate fluids with high amounts thereof.

*Not a destination spot*– how exquisitely tone deaf does someone have to be to not even consider that for a good many of us, that is not a bug but a feature?

Bucket lists. Destination spots. I do not think some of these people would know a life it they stumbled into one accidentally in the middle of the night.

“The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers.” – Princess Leia

That quote came to mind coming off of the Star Wars thread when I read Katherine’s first comment about the Democrat elite.

I agree with the idea of “the bubble”. I think that if you only listened to one or two sources of news, it’s going to solidify your own position. How many people these days have the time to go and search out news and do their own fact checking? Mainstream media has done a great job of looking factual while putting out large streams of crap. There is no or little discernment and the level of that lack is what amazes me. And yet these people feel the same way toward us. It is a deep divide that I don’t feel like crossing anymore. Since a divided house cannot stand, it makes me wonder what lies ahead.

I’m not alone in my concern for the electoral college vote, nor am I alone in my concern of whether Trump will be allowed to make it through inauguration day. There’s not much I could do but pray for God’s will in our country. There is an unorganized group of Americans who are praying every date at 9 PM Eastern time, 8 PM Central, etc. for one minute. I am invite you to join in, and of course adding any other prayer as you feel led. Despite what’s happening in our world, God is still in control and in the business of miracles. I am grateful that He loves us even when we are unlovable.

If I didn’t know from personal experience that this is a very accurate reflection of what many liberals think of us, I’d swear it was satire.

I think the majority of the NO Dakota Access PipeLine protest ate Native Americans on Standing Rock Reservation, who are rightly afraid their water supply could get contaminated if there is a spill, as there was just discovered in North Dakota:
https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/dec/12/oil-spill-pipeline-north-dakota-standing-rock-belle-fourche

176,000 gallons of crude oil aint easy to clean up, and the biggest shock is that the monitoring equipment didn’t catch it. An owner of some of the private land this pipeline runs thru just happened to find the leakage.

Marie Blocher
December 14, 2016

Oh, and the one with the leak is only a 6 inch pipe, whereas the one proposed to go thru Standing Rock is 30 inches. Frankly, I think we’ve done enough to the American Indians without poising their water, too.

know a couple of the people who have gone up there on their own to protest and they aren’t fruitcakes. But unlike other protest activities, the media has been extremely quiet on this one.

Time for red areas to choke off energy production, water collection, and food production from the blue areas.

I’ll bet that’s because they need assistance, not because they’re third or fourth generation welfare system gamers.

…and they need assistance because their jobs, their whole company, went to Mexico under NAFTA.
