MORNING LINE

At an online sports book I just visited, the odds of this resolution making it through GenCon have just been officially posted as “Snowball in Hell.”

Resolved, the House of _______ concurring, That the 76th General Convention of the Episcopal Church direct the office of the Presiding Bishop and the Executive Council to provide the following information to each Diocese of the Church:

(a) The dollar amount spent by TEC on litigation against dioceses, parishes, groups of churches and individuals since General Convention, 2006;

(b) A list of the church accounts and/or budget items from which these funds were taken;

(c) An explanation of the line item described in the Domestic & Foreign Missionary Society Budgetary Summary as: Additional Draw from short-term reserve for legal support to dioceses exceeding budget for 2008-$1,520.000.00;

(d) The amount of money budgeted for litigation for the next Triennium;

(e) An estimate of the amount of property value retained and expected to be retained by the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America (PECUSA) because of pending and completed litigation as of General Convention 2009.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if the person who submitted that resolution is already being investigated by the powers that be.

What masochist submitted this resolution?

I’d very much like to know exactly how this resolution is handled. Will anybody be keeping track?

Fenelon,
I suspect the powers that be already know all about the people in NW Texas (where this came from IIRC). I mean, I know I am on the local diocesan short list of “malcontents” (I’ve heard I make the top 5, although I can’t for the life of me figure out how they found 4 people in the diocese more “malcontented” than me).
On the other hand, you might want to keep an eye out for a tail/ or at least TEC types trying to decode your blog ID.

Entitlements: My right to demand accountability from you, your right to obuscation fom me. See I do stand for rights.

That would be “obfuscation” of course.

Way to go. You’ve made it to malcontent!! Top five too. Wow. LOL.

Shh! Don’t let this get out, but they can try to decode my blog ID. Since I’m not Episcopalian (I just dear have friends who are) the time they take to do that happily takes time away from them investigating any Episcopalians-who actually believe in the divinity of Jesus and other fundamentals of the Christian faith.

I dunno, I read in D045 that The Episcopal Church should model in its governance and life the transparency and openness all Christians are called to demonstrate.

So if that passes, this should be an automatic, right? ;-)

In fact, I think C067 and D045 should be brought together into one “Openness and Accountability” resolution.

If transparency on committee memberships, then transparency on finances.

Right?

The powers that be have very little to worry about in the Dio of NW Texas. It’s West Texas that still has some malcontents apparently.

Tom — Yes, all things are possible. But I don’t think the piskies want Christ anywhere near the Convention. He’ll just get in the way of they want to do for themselves.

If you want to see Christ in Anaheim this week, the safest bet would be at the daily AAC Eucharist down the street.

I’m wondering (off-topic) whether the thread title (MORNING LINE) refers to this:

I’m picking Valentine
‘Cause on the morning line
The guy has got him figured
At five to nine….

Those are better odds, of course, than the author of this resolution has….

TEC will be transparent where it suits them to be so. You all should know this by now, but the irony is delicious. I must confess being sinfully delighted to see another opportunity for TEC to demonstrate its duplicity once again.

They will pass the “committee” transparency resolution with great fanfare and hoopla and quietly bury this turkey in committee. So predictable.
