LIBERAL CRACK

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009 | Uncategorized

As most of you have probably heard, the California Supreme Court upheld Proposition 8, an amendment to that state’s constitution which states that the only marriages California will officially recognize will be those between a man and a woman.

It’s long been my contention that leftists really aren’t as appalled by decisions like this one as they claim to be.  Because these decisions allow them to feel the greatest high in their world.  Smug self-righteousness.

Take this overwrought prose of San Francisco California Episcopal Bishop Marc Andrus who, if the Good Doctor is reading this, richly deserves a Braxton’s Lear for this performance:

While the decision by the California Supreme Court to uphold Proposition 8 has saddened many in the Diocese of California (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons, and all of us who support them) we as people of faith understand in a unique way that we are far from the end of this struggle.

Bishop?  I really wouldn’t take the following line if I were you.

Our sacred stories tell us of commitment in the face of oppression and opposition that stretches over generations: 400 years in Egypt for the Hebrew people, 400 years in America for African Americans. From these stories we have learned that God is faithful and that justice, in time, prevails.

Because sensitive Americans never permit themselves to lose sight of it.  All those millions and millions of homosexuals, kidnapped from their homes, packed into ships like sardines and, if they survived the journey across the Atlantic, sold into lives of slavery and degradation.

No, wait.  We don’t remember that at all.

The most important struggle, the quest for authentic human relationship comprehending one another in all our complexity, is one that cannot be achieved by judicial review or even by legislative means.

Democracy really sucks when we’re right and they’re obviously wrong.

It is the result of continuous commitment to the building of relationship and community. Such relatedness is at the heart of Christian mission. We in the Diocese of California have been, are currently, and will be committed to such mission. As with our brothers and sisters who felt the destructive effects of slavery and segregation,

Let’s see.  Not being able to “marry” someone of the same sex.  Getting yourself hanged because somebody said you looked a white woman funny.  Yeah, that’s exactly the same.

the women who continue worldwide to be second-class citizens, and the immigrants whose lives are disrupted once again by ICE raids, The Episcopal Church stands in solidarity with the disenfranchised.

Whatever, sunshine.

As with our brothers and sisters who felt the destructive effects of slavery and segregation, the women who continue worldwide to be second-class citizens, and the immigrants whose lives are disrupted once again by ICE raids,

We stand in solidarity with those who are:
–Enslaved (usually because of their skin color)
–Rendered second-class citizens under the law, because of their skin color
–Rendered second class citizens, given little to no legal rights, or mutilated because of their gender
–Jailed or deported from a country because they entered illegally

All together now:
One of these things is not like the others,
One of these things just doesn’t belong,
Can you tell which thing is not like the others
By the time I finish my song?

I think that Andrus is smoking something on Haight/Ashbury street. He’s gearing up for that Folsom Street Freak Fair

I have California relatives. One of them, a woman, lived for several years in a civil partnership with a man. They finally got married, not because they felt strongly about marriage, but because they get a big tax break on federal taxes as married filing jointly.

Poor, poor Andrus. With racial equal rights now accepted by all, he’s got to have a cause. He must keep going to protests. He must. What else is life for?

Fiction right? This Andrus stuff is ridiculous. Shame on the good folks who relaxed their guard and let these foxes in the henhouse

It must really annoy people who have actual ancestors who were kidnapped, forced into death ships and then worked to death whilst being treated as an animal to be compared to people who want the State to call them “married”.

Because it annoys me, and I’m just a white girl living on the other side of the world.

This article explains why Jamaicans are so anti-homosexuality:

Blacks do understand the difference. It’s why they came out in unbelievable numbers (on their way to vote for Obama…but that aside) and put Prop 8 on the California State Constitution. It’s quite possible, judging by his comments, that Bp. Andrus has never spoken with an actual black citizen of California.

David Turney,
That’s because there are none in the Gay Bay that are black …and if there are it is very few indeed!

Oops meant to mention …..I think it would be mighty difficult to bewail civil rights on the grounds of your race (color) and sex orientation at the same time….that’s a double whammy!

The gay activists in California were afraid to protest the heavy black vote against gay marriage, preferring to go after the Mormons, whom they considered an easier target.

Smug self-righteousness indeed, but particularly, they need the victim status to prove how they’ve been done wrong: NOTHING IS WRONG WITH ME! IT’S YOU YOU YOU persecuting me.

Sick, sad people.

Actually, some bloggers had some really unpleasant things to say about blacks.

Things they most likely would not have dared repeat in an actual black neighborhood.

More than a half million dead (from AIDS alone) and more than a half million infected, shortened life span, female infections, too, and they want me to think that thier chosen way of life needs to have society’s endorsement?

I would rather they think I’m a bigot. Still will be decades from now.

+Andrus never met a victim he didn’t like. Why doesn’t he visit the state prisons? He would find lots of innocent victims of “the system” to be with in solidarity!

What a jackass! Episcopal bishops obviously have lost the ability to hear how pompous they sound in addition to the loss of backbone.

correct me if I am wrong, but doesn’t this ruling make clear the gay rights crowd gets everything but the word “marriage” and for 18,000 or so, they get that too?

“The most important struggle, the quest for authentic human relationship comprehending one another in all our complexity, is one that cannot be achieved by judicial review or even by legislative means.”

So does that mean all the lawsuits for property are going to be dropped, seeing as how judicial and legislative means cannot achieve that which is most important?

TLDillon
May 27, 2009

KC yes they do! But now that is no longer what they want, even though that was all they said they wanted, it is now the fact that the want the word marriage…..In other words they want the same level if sanctity in law and faith that the word “marriage” gives and means.

FW Ken
May 27, 2009

Janjan, you make an important point.

It’s true that societies across time and all over the world have limited tolerance for same-sex relationships. Even where they aren’t proscribed completely, they are regulated and controlled.

The question comes back as to why this should be so? It isn’t just the semitic cultures that reject or control same-sex relationships and it certainly isn’t just Christianity.

I’ve said before that it seems to me that prosperity in a society breaks down a good bit of moral fiber, including prohibitions on homosex. We see this in micro societies like monastic communities, and in whole cultures like the Romans. The rich become more “tolerant” in general (though you might say “indolent”), sex and other forms of materialism become more open, and – important – children become expendable. What was an asset – farm hands – become a liability – a mouth to feed. Could their sterility be part of the appeal of same-sex relationships in the prosperous culture?

Whatever, I do think the pure hatred and rage these people show to all who thwart them ultimately turns against them. Like abortion, euthanasia, and some other other anti-life issues prevalent today, the totalitarian impulse in homosex calls out rebellion. And that rebellion will be ugly.

The irony is that the homosexualists blame Christianity for their problems, but mark my words, it will be Christians who will protect them when the real persecution comes along. And, again, mark my words, they will turn on us again just as soon as they can.

What?? Since when is this ‘the most important struggle?’ Most important to whom?

Oh dear, pulling out oppression in Egypt language. Am I the only one imagining a new Passover Seder cooked up by the chillun of servitude in America where they aren’t allowed to marry? One doesn’t need much creativity to come up with a script for this one. I doubt we’ll have long to wait.

Anglicat
May 27, 2009

If gay activists succeed in their battle to hi-jack the word “marriage,” it is rather like removing the word from the dictionary. We would no longer have a word for the fundamental unit of civilization, a man and a woman uniting in life-long matrimony. That’s a BIG problem.

Thank you, California voters–can you maintain your battle stations? “No” means only “later” to the activists in our midst.

Janjan
May 27, 2009

FWKen, You’re right. When it all starts going down the drain, it will be the Christians who will be called upon to show mercy and take risks.

Societies cannot maintain themselves if they do not encourage reproduction and healthy families. People are always pointing out that Israel will lose the demographic battle against the Muslims in it’s midst. Think of Israel as the canary in the mine.

These activists are already beginning to plan their next move and it will be targeted right here in Fresno CA ….the Central Valley…..they will be here on Saturday protesting and then marching and then walking around and knocking on peoples doors to try and “Educate us”! That’s right! Read it here:

May 28, 2009

FW Ken – You make some excellent points, and it’s only because so few people bother to learn and think about history that we watch this same pattern happening again and again. Homosexuals seem to think that they’re forging History, when this has all happened before. You don’t have to go back to the Romans – look at the Weimar Republic. “Cabaret” wasn’t invented out of whole cloth – that’s the way society was in the 20s and 30s: decadent, permissive, perverted sexuality, a nihilistic festival of grubbing self-gratification and giggling despair. But societies can’t go on forever like that, and the reaction was brutal: the Nazis. But the Nazis were POPULAR, and it was because they promised the non-pervert majority to clean up a society that they found degrading and sickening. The same thing will happen again. A healthy society can tolerate a LITTLE decay, around the edges, where it doesn’t really matter. But the people who benefit by it can’t stop at that; they start inflating themselves with delusions of a whole society reorganized to suit their own comfort, they push everything way too far and eventually the majority sickens of them and a reaction kicks in.
