WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS…
Saturday, March 2nd, 2013 | Uncategorized
Say what you want about Barack Obama but the guy never misses an opportunity:
Obama conflated tropes from Star Trek and Star Wars during his press briefing. “And I know that this has been some of the conventional wisdom that’s been floating around Washington that somehow, even though most people agree that I’m being reasonable, that most people agree I’m presenting a fair deal, the fact that they don’t take it means that I should somehow do a Jedi mind-meld with these folks and convince them to do what’s right,” he told reporters. “Well, they’re elected. We have a constitutional system of government. The Speaker of the House and the leader of the Senate and all those folks have responsibilities.”
After the briefing, the White House Twitter feed published a photo of Obama. “These aren’t the cuts you are looking for,” the caption reads in another Star Wars-Star Trek merger. “To deny the facts would be illogical.”
The White House response was pretty much perfect but that they felt the need to respond at all was problematic since everybody mixes metaphors from time to time. I’m sure that you can find more than a few here if you took the time to look.
As usual, Ace nails it:

Sorry, but I had to stop reading at “most people agree that I’m being reasonable”. That was where my eyes rolled up into the back of my head …

“I Am Not A Dictator.”
Glad you feel you have to say that, Barack.
In a related matter. As Jobba the Hutt noted, Jedi mind tricks only work on the simple minded. Also the POTUS is definitely not a Jedi Knight anyway.

That photoshop from Ace is a hoot. I am one of the least movie-obsessed people you could ever meet, and when I know it’s mixed up, it’s pretty bad.
Here’s the deal. The House faced the facts about the Senate and Presidential election results when it came to the tax bill, and they got a decent deal under the circumstances: the vast majority of the tax rates made permanent, with the top bracket increased as Obama demanded. They think it was a bad idea, but they recognized reality. Obama and the Senate Dems, on the other hand, are clinging to the fantasy that some other House was elected. Pretending that the world will end if spending increases are reduced is juvenile, and more and more people are beginning to see that.

“Well, they’re elected” and Obama wasn’t? humm are we hearing a confession?

Politician blames opposition party for being unreasonable? Oh, I am shocked!
It’s rather petulant in tone (“I can’t make them eat their broccoli!”) for an Anointed Lightworker upon whose ascension the oceans stopped rising and the climate stopped changing – maybe at last the idea that he is just an ordinary guy and another typical politician, and not the Second Coming, is finally sinking in with some of the more zealous of his promoters?

Wondering if the Reps gave Obama what he asked for with the idea of giving him enough rope to hang himself.
Agree with one person’s opinion which I’ll paraphrase: “Why don’t we just stop the money going out of country before turning the spigot off to our own people?” Oh, yeah, that would make sense.

I was a fan of his from 2002, but I’m done with Ace since he said this on February 20: “I’m sick of pretending I don’t think it’s weird that people are still wigging out over the idea that some people are attracted to the same sex, and are still pushing some sort of ‘political’ agenda about this”.
. . . and the horse you rode in on, Ace, since you quite clearly seem to roll that way.

From today’s Wall St. Journal editorial page, by Mark Helprin, “Psalm 23, Newly Revised According to Modern Principles”:
“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of debt, I fear no bankruptcy, for Obama is my shepherd. He prepareth a table of food stamps before me, and maketh me lie down beside waters He hath cleansed and seas He hath made recede…”

The stupidity is strong with the One day this! -ADOY
March 2, 2013
Just another step in the long, long ladder of quotes showing Obama is fairly stupid:
- 57 states
- I am my brother’s keeper (not really what Abel said)
- Endowed with certain inalienable rights (Creator word gone)
- Navy corpsemen
- To honor fallen heroes, some of whom I see here today (he sees dead people)
-Nice to be here in Asia (said in Hawaii)
And on and on. Needs to be placed between Spock and a hot Vulcan babe during Spock’s “heat” season.
March 2, 2013
Now, now, Sir. Mr. Obama can’t be as stupid as all that. He is, after all, the most intelligent man he has ever listened to.
March 2, 2013
Jay Random, that might be true, alas, considering what he thinks about economics.

“the most intelligent man he has ever listened to.”
Whaddaya mean? He is the most intelligent man ever in this history of the U.S., the World, and the Universe.
Your tepid support for Our Dear Leader has been noticed and will be sent to AttackWaaaaaatch.
And remember – you will only be allowed to take one small bag to the camps, so pack wisely.
March 2, 2013
My dear Mr. Janousek:
He isn’t any of my Dear Leader. I’m an Albertan. He can start chucking Albertans into camps, if he’s so minded, over a whole mountain of dead bodies.
So pathetic. *sigh*

I do be liking your attitude.
I am glad that one of our neighbors to the north who believe that bacon is round is willing to resist tyranny.
Traveled halfway across your country back in 1973. Beautiful country and very gracious people.
BTW – sorry to have to tell you, but real bacon ain’t round. And as to Canadian whiskey – yuck.
Otherwise, you folks are A+ with me.

[...] When Life Gives You Lemons – M.C.J. [...]
Guess Obama’s not a nerd.
Saw another version of that picture, a ‘tease a nerd’ joke: a picture of Patrick Stewart that says ‘”Use the Force, Harry.” — Gandalf’.

I wouldn’t dare!
