or Ramtha Lama Ding-Dong

In the State of Washington, a prominent local spiritual leader who is also a generous donor to political parties, candidates and causes has created a firestorm of controversy because of some recent bigoted remarks.  What, did some rich Christian fundie call homosexual activity a sin or something?

Not so much, no:

Democrats on the bottom of the ticket in Washington state all the way to the very top are caught in a pickle. Stand against religious bigotry or give back some $60,000 in state campaign cash contributed by world-famous spiritual channeler JZ Knight after videos showing Knight preaching hatred of Catholics became public.

In a story that may become a national news story as soon as tomorrow morning, Knight is seen and heard on video to let loose a profanity-strewn rant against Catholics and has been a frequent and generous contributor to Democrats here in Washington and at the national level. Knight’s contributions to Democrat at all levels total more than $120,000 for the current election cycle.

Come to find out that this freakshow gives a boatload of jack to the Democratic Party.

Complicating matters for Democrats is the fact that the Yelm, Wash.-based cult leader has given generously to the Washington State Democratic Party, the Democratic National Committee, Pres. Barack Obama and Democratic candidates for state and local office.

According to Federal Election Commission records, Knight personally gave a total of $60,800 to the Democratic National Committee in the 2012 election cycle, gave $5,800 to the Obama Victory Fund and has maxed out on individual donations ($5,000) to Pres. Barack Obama’s re-election campaign.

State Public Disclosure Commission records also show that Knight also gave $66,300 to Democrats in Washington state. A total of $60,000 was received by State Democrats, $1,800 by 2nd legislative district state Senate candidate Bruce Lachney, $1,800 by Thurston County Commissioner Sandra Romero, $1,800 by State Supreme Court Justice Susan Owens, and $900 by the political action committee operated on behalf of Democrats in the state Senate.

Lachney and Romero also each received $1,800 from the Ramtha School of Enlightenment, Knight’s spiritual organization.

What did Knight say anyway?  You have to remember that Knight claims to be channelling someone named Ramtha who’s 35,000 years old and apparently doesn’t like Catholics, Jews or gays for some reason.

The video evidence of Knight’s tirades are difficult to watch.

“F— you, you Catholics!” Knight bellows over cheers from her audience.

“We will come on you in a terror,” Knight growls in another cut. “We will bring… St. Peter’s temple down and we will swallow it in the sea.” (“St. Peter’s temple” is a reference to the Catholic church itself.)

The entirety of hateful language used by Knight defied redaction to meet our standards for publication. For the full context, you will have to brace yourself and view the videos. We warn you use discretion when viewing these where the general public and especially small children may be present. It’s very rough stuff.

Some of Knight’s remarks in the videos also use graphic descriptions of homosexual acts to disparage and threaten Catholics; others smack of anti-Semitism.

The videos are at the link.  I’ve got a hundy that says Knight was baptized Catholic but abandoned Christianity because she thought it was ridiculous.  Rob Wynne, one of this whack job’s publicity flacks, puked up some spin that was so lame that it was positively Zion National Park beautiful.

About the video, Wynne said: “The quotes were taken out of context and not meant to disparage Catholics. The comments were meant to draw attention to the abuses and subsequent cover-ups of the Catholic Church and not intended to criticize any individuals of any persuasion. JZ Knight has always supported the rights of the LGBT community including marriage equality and legal benefits.”

Blogging tip: it takes practice but if you ever want to publish a blog of your own, you have to know when to hold them and know when to fold them, as the song goes.  Sometimes snark is necessary and sometimes statements should be left alone.

Washington State Democrats are horrified by these statements, mind you, just horrified, but they’re keeping Knight’s scratch anyway.

Democratic Party spokesman Benton Strong distanced the party from Knight’s comments, but said Democrats would not give back the money.

“We obviously don’t condone the kind of divisive language that is seen here.

Know what else grinds Washington Democratic gears?  Washington Republicans making an issue about how many simoleons this bigoted nutcase gives to Democrats.

The other thing that we don’t condone is the kind of divisive policy positions taken by the WSRP (Republican Party) – their discriminatory policies against marriage equality, which is the same position taken by Rob McKenna, their candidate for governor,” Strong said.

“We think it is unfortunate that Kirby would resort to these kinds of attacks instead of talking about the issues facing our candidates and the voters,’’ Strong added.

As long as I’ve been doing whatever this is, there have been more times than I can count when this stuff literally writes itself.

Washington State under the Demoncrats is rightly called the “Washington State Soviet Republic: It even has a statue of that mass murdering revolutionary in Seattle. its sculpture “Venkov intended to portray Lenin as a bringer of revolution, in contrast to the traditional portrayals of Lenin as a philosopher and educator. His Lenin marches ahead fiercely, surrounded by torrid flames and symbols of war.”

However love the refernce to “We will bring… St. Peter’s temple down and we will swallow it in the sea.” Substitute temple to “Barque”: so many much more powerful emperors, kings, princes, potentates, states with their huge armies armies have tried and just as many have failed. Why even Stalin sarcastically queried about the number of divisions the Pope had? That the “Ramtha School of Enlightenment” has set itself this objective is the stuff of comedy. Certainly caused me to belly laugh!

Just imagine a statue of Hitler in any US city! But the double standards: Communism good, Nazism bad! What is there to choose between them?

“simoleons”? Do I detect another aficionado of that life simulation computer program called “The Sims 3”?

As Richard Burton said in “Exorcist II: The Heretic,” one of the worst movie sequels ever: “Satan has become an embarrassment to our progressive views.”

Sorry dudes, but that is formal cooperation in my book.

So world-famous I had never heard of her, but a bit of Googling disgorges much food for thought.

First, if she does get rapped over the knuckles, it will be for anti-gay statements she allegedly made (e.g. her now deceased ex-husband, in a court case, alleged her spirit guide said that “HIV is Nature’s way of ‘getting rid of’ homosexuality”.

I don’t think she’s an ex-Catholic, but there’s not enough information to say what religion, if any, she was raised in – but she was born in Roswell (yes, the ‘crashed UFO, Area 51’ Roswell). There is also a possible explanation for her freely expressed anti-Catholicism in that a formerly very prominent Irish cleric (now laicised) is involved or was involved with her school.

Given that I imagine he poured into her sympathetic ear an account of being hounded out of the Church by gay conspiracy plot falsely accusing him of sex abuse, I think that probably bolstered her – or Ramtha’s – notions that Christianity is backwards and ignorant. I have no idea whether he thinks this or not, but I can’t say that I don’t think it’s possible (like Jack Chick and his ex-Jesuit friend, Alberto Rivera, who revealed all the inmost secrets of Rome and its diabolical machinations and perversion of the pure, true Gospel).

To which His Holiness replied, “tell my son Joseph that he will see my divisions in heaven.”

I too believe she is likely to be demon possessed.

So the Democrats condemned the “divisive” language, but not the ideas expressed? Is there some way that they would have preferred that Knight/Ramtha would have told Catholics to self-fornicate and that she wanted to destroy their church?

“divisive language”

In other words, they don’t actually mind the notion of roma delenda est, they just are worried that it’s expressed in a way that might frighten the sheep.

God have mercy.

This Ramtha scam was highlighted in an execrable film called “What the Bleep do we Know?” This was a film that held pride of place at the bottom of the quality barrel until “The Innocence of Muslims” was made, but somehow got some big-screen attention. You may know it as the film where the Japanese guy gets angry at a glass of water and the ice crystals go all random. Regrettably I watched it because a number of people wanted a physicist’s opinion of the ideas.

The film was produced by three “graduates” of “Ramtha’s School of Enlightenment” and features a number of segments where Knight channels Ramtha.

Paula: you might be right about possession, but based on the film I think its just a poor actor riffing on her own ideas in a deep gravelly voice. And somehow getting rich in the process.

Money from conservatives to conservatives: BAD, Bad, Bad.

Money from anyone to Democrats: GOOD, good, good.

What could be clearer?

Give the money back? Why? If anyone deserved to be $120,000 poorer, it’s this jackaninny. No, give it to the Catholic Church, who’ll do some good with it. Alas, though, the recipients are Democrats, so there’s no chance in hell that will ever happen.

OK, I made the mistake of starting to watch the clip in the linked page. JZ Wright is a seriously ill, narcissistic individual. That’s 60 seconds of my life wasted.

These guys are almost local to me. Their compound is about 60 miles away. This is the same cult that teaches that the Lizard Men from Venus will one day descend upon the earth, and the only salvation will be staying underground during the invasion and buying your life with gold afterward.

I was already of the opinion that Ramtha/Knight was a fairly straightforward case of willful demon possession. This video merely confirms it.

Wouldn’t you think that the idea of “lizard men” would keep people from getting into a cult in the first place?

/i/“HIV is Nature’s way of ‘getting rid of’ homosexuality”./-i/

Fuinseog — Not that I could hijack a thread, but to me AIDS is Satan’s way, having deceived homosexuals into following him, of driving those deceived to their final destruction. Nothing more.

If Jerry Falwell could have expressed it that way back in the eighties — and I do believe that’s the way he saw it — he might have made more of an impact. At least that’s what I’d like to think.

We in Washington have grown to expect the occasional outburst fro this gal. It’s infrequent but always puzzling to see how many suckers are parted from their money to listen to her *really, really bad* acting when gets her Ramtha on. Nothing like it. Her rants may explain Mr Biden’s mysterious sayings, maybe he’s channeling a 50,000 year old warrior.

Don Janousek
October 26, 2012

Thank God it was only Catholics and not homos. Then this guy would REALLY have been in trouble.

Wonder why he left out the Jews? Maybe that will be in next week’s sermon.

October 26, 2012

Don, I believe Ramtha would say (have to ask JZ, of course, the courts have decided (really!) that she and she alone can tell anyone what “he” says) there weren’t any of either of those aformentioned groups 50,000 years ago. He may have no comment. If he does it’ll cost you big to hear her emote it. This is Washington State. It makes sense here, don’t ask me why.

October 27, 2012

Wasn’t Ramtha a character in Doonesbury for a while? You know, when the blonde chick was a channeler, back in the late 1980’s?
