ANGLICAN BLOGGING 101

Sometimes it’s just better to leave stuff alone.  The caption to this BBC video reads as follows:

A special Koran prayer school has been set up in Yoyakarta where transgender Islamic Indonesians can pray.

Trust me.  You aspiring Anglican bloggers out there will thank me later.

Can we send undercover liberals to the Middle East as black ops posing as Islamic militants? They might be able to destroy militant Islam from the inside far more effectively than any military operation.

Gene and Liz? You hear that? Ask not what your country can do for you. Or at least Rowan. He’s already got a foot in the door.

I know I should keep my beak shut, but I can’t resist: so when is the transgender prayer room opening at the National Cathedral? Did they get advice on this when ex-President Khatami gave his speech?

Can anyone remember when outfits like the BBC actually reported news?

Fuinseoig –

So many possibilities, don’t know where to start.

First, for 24-hour accessibility, there’s a chapel tucked into a cloister just off the Garth (a quiet courtyard with a fountain just outside the choir room). I’m hoping that they at least wait for the boys to go home for the day before they come around.

Second, the chapel at the Cathedral College (formerly known as the College of Preachers). It’s going to be closed for that purpose any day now, if it isn’t already. The Cathedral Foundation could definitely use the revenue, especially from such a discriminated-against minority.

Third, the War Memorial Chapel, just off the crossing along the south side of the Great Choir. The jerks on the Close do especially loathe the military, you know.

Fourth, Resurrection Chapel, along the south aisle in the crypt. For my money, it’s the most brilliant yet simple combination in the whole building. But, alas, the current clergy staff largely don’t believe (Chane especially) in the Resurrection, so they ought to have had it farmed out by now.

I could name a few other choice spots — among others a newly-opened underground parking garage (how many possibilities there?) — but I think you get the idea.

BBC may have just sealed the fates of these “transgender” people by pointing out where they’re going to be praying. Jakarta, like other Indonesian places, is being inundated with Islamic extremists. Bombing at Friday prayers coming to this location soon.

Fuinseoig: The transgender prayer room project has been upgraded and renamed the transgender chapel project. The Chapel of Saint Pat and Saint Chris will have this person serve as its first vicar:

You mean the Nat Cat hasn’t re-named one of the chapels for St. Harvey Milk? Obviously this is residual institutional homophobia and Bp. Chane needs to get on it at once!

Ken, I’ll bet you Harv makes Lesser Feasts and Fasts at GenCon. Then the sky’s the limit.

“The Chapel of Saint Pat and Saint Chris will have this person serve as its first vicar”

Chris: That had nothing to do with you. It comes from an old SNL skit.
