A JOURNEY, NOT A DESTINATION

Episcopal Organization? If I were you, I’d get to work on the “theology” right now:
If a small group of psychiatrists and other mental health professionals have their way at a conference this week, pedophiles themselves could play a role in removing pedophilia from the American Psychiatric Association’s bible of mental illnesses — the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM), set to undergo a significant revision by 2013. Critics warn that their success could lead to the decriminalization of pedophilia.
Something this conference would like to achieve.
The August 17 Baltimore conference is sponsored by B4U-ACT, a group of pro-pedophile mental health professionals and sympathetic activists. According to the conference brochure, the event will examine “ways in which minor-attracted persons [pedophiles] can be involved in the DSM 5 revision process” and how the popular perceptions of pedophiles can be reframed to encourage tolerance.
If I remember correctly, one of the justifications for declaring that homosexuality was not an illness was that homosexuals were quite capable of leading happy and productive lives while having sexual relations with people of the same sex. This seems to be precisely the line these people intend to pursue.
B4U-ACT has been active attacking the APA’s definition of pedophilia in the run up to the conference, denouncing its description of “minor-attracted persons” as “inaccurate” and “misleading” because the current DSM links pedophilia with criminality.
“It is based on data from prison studies, which completely ignore the existence of those who are law-abiding,” said Howard Kline, science director of B4U-ACT, in a July 25, 2011 press release. “The proposed new diagnostic criteria specify ages and frequencies with no scientific basis whatsoever.”
And you know how “civilized” people NEVER drop F-bombs in polite company anymore? Get ready for the P-bomb.
“What purpose does calling someone a ‘pervert’ or ‘predator’ serve anyway, other than to express contempt and hatred?” Kramer wrote in a March 14, 2009 blog entry on the website ReformSexOffenderLaws.org. “How is this productive? It certainly doesn’t protect children. I would urge all SO [sex offender] activists to listen to their own message: Stop buying into and promoting false stereotypes. Stop demonizing a whole class of people, and start learning the facts.”
People like me have moved on from the pseudo-religious fraud that is the Episcopal Organization so being labeled as “bigots” or “homophobes” holds no terrors for us anymore. I just hope that people like Jim Naughton, Susan Russell, Elizabeth Kaeton and Gene Robinson can handle it when the same artillery they’ve been insouciantly firing all these years suddenly starts getting fired back at them.
When they become TEO’s “conservatives.”
UPDATE: Confessor alerts us to a speaker at this conference.
Dr. Fred Berlin, a chief consultant for decades to the American Catholic Bishops and Religious Order Provincials on sex offender priests, will address tomorrow in Baltimore a controversial symposium sponsored by an organization that calls itself “B4U-ACT”. B4U-ACT advocates the decriminalization and tolerance of persons who have a lifelong attraction and desire for sexual contact with youngsters. B4U-ACT, when describing its core values states: “Individuals who are attracted to children are the focus of everything that we do.”
Not surprisingly, Archbishop Emeritus Rembert Weakland of Milwaukee, in a deposition taken in 2008, cites Berlin as the chief expert on pedophilia that the U.S. bishops consulted when faced with the growing sexual abuse crisis. (Locally, Berlin was also hired by at least one major religious order, the Capuchin Franciscans.)
Weakland explains that Berlin addressed the U.S. bishops in 1985 and urged them against removing pedophiles from the priesthood. Of course, no one, or virtually no one, especially the Vatican and John Paul II, was making such a recommendation, and Berlin as the company doctor was simply telling the CEO’s what they already wanted to hear. And, not surprisingly, as the bishop’s psychiatrist, Berlin still remains actively opposed to reporting sex offenders to the civil authorities, although all major psychiatric and mental health organizations and professional associations have strongly supported mandatory reporting for decades.

I can’t argue with the expert that the article quotes: “the conference is part of a strategy to condition people into accepting pedophiles.” (ref Kirk and Madsen’s 1990 manifesto After the Ball, for a description of how to do that conditioning (for an unrelated cause).
Their initial strategy is apparently to a) equate “being attracted” to “acting criminally” then b) point out how unfair it is to condemn someone for just being attracted and then c) encourage us to just pity for all persons that are attracted, whether or not they have acted criminally. Presumably once we are all feeling sorry for the perverted pederastic predators (and thus have stopping using those words) they’ll start putting ppp’s on talk shows and in sympathetic roles in movies. Then they will work on the legal system, the church, and the educational system to normalize the behaviour.

I am appalled.
I wonder how this “small group” would feel if their children were terrorized and brutalized by those they champion?
August 16, 2011
Makes perfect sense to me.
A paedophile (like many TEC priests and laypeople) and a paedophile organisation (like TEC) should not be able to avoid a criminal sanction by pleading insanity
“It is based on data from prison studies, which completely ignore the existence of those who are law-abiding,
Right. Because being a Pedo isn’t a crime, or a mental illness. Why? Because people have a choice whether to act or not
Child sexual abuse, however, is and will always remain a crime.

I am physically sick after reading that. God help us all.

Check with God. See what he thinks of this BS.

I grew up in very musical circles in the Episcopal Church, and can tell you about numerous attempts by some of these perverts (some subtle, some not) at sexual assault; I also know of others who were actually assaulted. I know of assaults that occurred in parish church settings, and at Royal School of Church Music summer courses that were covered up by the mostly homosexual management.
I can tell you that there is nothing normal about these perverts, and that they are never to be trusted.
I know three of these very special kind of perverts currently in federal lock-up, and a couple dozen more who probably should be.
And after reading this post I’m thinking it’s the psychiatrists that need treatment.

This article and seminar makes me so angry.
I do hope the FBI has some people lurking about. It would be nice if they would raid the joint and confiscate the participants laptops for a look-see. They could also check their passports to see if they have been to Bali and other countries where child sex tourists go to practice their perversions.
Might get some of these people out of society and make a dent in the child porn business for a while.
August 16, 2011
For gppp: I’ve heard that it used to be the case that one of the requirements for becoming a psychiatrist was to undergo analysis. Can’t get into the club without treatment. Anyone know if that’s still true?
For everyone in general: If these people get their way, look for a certain kind of vigilantism to resurface. There are too many parents to countenance “normative” paedophilia.

EEEWWWWWW!!
August 16, 2011
The only surprise about this is that it’s taken them so long. It fits perfectly with the rest of the left’s ideology regarding sex.
August 16, 2011
This is exactly how homosexualists got their disorder written out of the DSM. The fact that there are “mental health professionals” who are willing to cooperate with this effort is a scandal. “Minor-attracted persons”???
August 16, 2011
Well, not exactly the same way, Katherine.
The homosexualists raided and took over both the APA groups and presented their supposedly valid (now discredited) scientific studies to prove homosex was healthy. It was and still is a case of intimidation.
If the APA groups fall for this kind of stuff again, they will lose all pretense of credibility.
August 16, 2011
Any mental health ‘professionals’ at this meeting have proved themselves unfit to practice.
August 16, 2011
August 16, 2011
The APA still has credibility?
August 16, 2011
What can one say? It’s proof of total depravity, as if there weren’t enough already.
August 16, 2011
So, since I work with survivors of the Canadian Residential School system when those who were sexually abused as children speak out, these yahoos want me to say “no no, what they did was ok because they were only attracted to you.”
Funny, I thought wrong was wrong no matter what some eggheads think.
August 16, 2011
Mark Shea’s prophetic prediction:
Those who are excoriating the church to-day for the way it has handled incidents of pedophilia among the clergy despite its own consistent teaching aginst it since its foundation, will tomorrow excoriate the Church for not approving of pedepholia after it has been legalised as a “natural” human condition.

This conference brought to you by the Letter P. (as in GLBTP)

If you think about this strategically, you should be saying “Yes, APA, remove pedophilia from the DSM!” It would have zero chance of affecting law but it would completely discredit the APA. When someone says “The APA legitimized Homosexuality” we could respond “The APA legitimized pedophilia.” Which by the way is why there is zero chance – metaphysically zero chance – that the APA will follow this recommendation.
Too bad. It’s always good to see your enemy unintentionally blow his own head off.

Having read this several hours ago, I was thinking to calm down before making a comment. But I’m just getting madder and madder, so I’ll pass. For now…
I hope you are right, carl, but fear that the history of the gay-rights movement suggests that APA action – degraded as it would be – would lead to changes in the legal system.
Well, one comment: as always, I note that real pedophilia (attraction to pre-pubescent children) is not the issue here. The perverts are after adolescents, 12-17 (“chicken”) and are laying the ground work for a lower age of consent.

Ken — Just as Dems tried in the early 90s with a attempted change in “civil rights” laws. Fortunately they failed.
August 17, 2011
Michal, only psychoanalysts are required to undergo personal analysis. Most of the psychiatrists and so-called “psychotherapists” whom I knew during my 40 years of practice were as whacky (clinically speaking)as–if not more so than–their patients.
