FEEL THE LOVE

Some Anglican asshat or other gets all warm and cuddly:

An influential US bishop has attacked African leaders for treating him and his church as a "punchbag".

The Right Rev John Chane, the Bishop of Washington, said neither he nor the Episcopal church deserved the treatment, accusing the leaders of "demonic and dangerous" behaviour.

Christian clerics from Africa have criticised US liberals for encouraging progressive practices including the ordination of gay priests and the blessings of same-sex unions, calling them apostates and blaming them for causing a schism in the Anglican Communion.

Angered by their criticism, Chane denied that the Episcopal church was guilty of leading the Anglican communion into error.

"I think it’s really very dangerous when someone stands up and says: ’I have the way and I have the truth and I know how to interpret holy scripture and you are following what is the right way,’" he said "It’s really very, very dangerous and I think it’s demonic."

Like...oh, I don't know...here?

Chanester: I think it’s really very dangerous when someone stands up and says: ’The spirit is doing a new thing AND I have the way and I have the truth and I know how to interpret holy scripture and you are following what is the right way,’" course you don't believe in much else so what's up with the "demonic" reference, Dude?

Is this not exactly what they did in confiming Gene Robinson and pushing for the full inclusion of the LGBTXYZ agenda? Do they not say that their interpretation of Scripture is correct and to oppose it is bigotry and homophobic? Or am I missing something.

The real truth is that they've thrown Scripture completely away when it doesn't suit their Antichristian agenda!! It's they - and Mr. Chane, one of those many pointy-hat GOOD-FOR-NOTHINGS - who are not just demonic but DEMONS all right!!!!

They've made up their new "god", new "christ", new "prophets", etc. Now that they're getting exposed, they're out to use legal force, intimidation and other such weapons. It won't take long, I fear, before open murder, rape and other such things start happening to the rest of us in THEIR names...

It might seem at this point like an exaggeration to think that homosexuals are now prepared to openly attempt to murder others - however, read then "When the Wicked Seize a City". Also, note how Brazil's government is out to pass a new bill calling for five years' IMPRISONMENT FOR MERELY OFFENDING a homosexual in ANY context!!!

Your link (John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.) brought a palpable wave of comfort and peace. In the midst of all this (must not use bad words!!!!) stuff, it is oh so good to come back to Truth. I am going to keep my Bible open every time I decide I must take a peek at a statement coming out of Lambeth's Left Field.

1) How very very odd that Chane would quote Jesus in precisely this way. Jesus was dangerous, to the demons and the pharisees, and like Chane they accused Jesus of being demonic (Matthew 12:24). How odd that Chane would allow himself such an unguarded comment.

2) The "punchbag" reference really irritates. How often do we see people in power try to bully those with less power by accusing them of aggression. The GLBT activitists, who have a stranglehold on the Canadian media, government, courts, and education system, still play that "I'm a victim" card effectively.

Chane is a coward.

What do you think would have happened had he said this to Akionla or Orombi or the Primates Council?

He would not have escaped with his life!

Let us pray:

Oh Lord,
The heretics and apostates have ignored the sign of Jonah, and the sign of Lazarus
Please send now the sign of Ananias And Sapphira
That some still may be saved
Through Jesus Christ our Lord
Amen

Sinner, in light of previous objections to TU&D's language earlier I can't say what you're incredibly full of today.

Well, you know that Jesus character was an incredibly dangerous guy. He acted like he completely understood what the God of the Universe is really all about. Good thing we have Chane to set us right on that score...

It's obvious that Sinner is showing his true anti-Christian, vehemently super-"liberal" nature trying to mock those of us here who're real followers of Our Lord!

Simultaneously, knowing what kinds of people Schori-Jefferts, Bennison, Chane, Bruno, Andrus, Mathes, Lamb, Alexander, Persell, Sisk, Roskam, Shaw et al. in the USA (for Canada we have Hiltz, Moxley, Matthews, Ingham, Caleb Lawrence {equivalent to Swing down there} and Savard to start off with) exist: I'll dare say that even the sign of Korah, Dathan and Abiram wouldn't induce a single one of them to repent...

Ed, I just space past... although it'd be interesting to see a debate with RadFemPoe.

radicalfeministpoet ? Oh, how I miss radicalfeministpoet ! I would almost die laughing every single time s/he [sic] commented on Father Kimel's old Web log. It really broke up the monergy.

She's been over on Stand Firm recently, once or twice. What a hoot!

Dear people of the not-delicate persuasion, I didn't mean at all to give you such trouble. On the other hand, I thought Ed's comment above was funnier than it would have been if he'd just said it! But maybe that's just me. If it gets bad, I just don't read it. Carry on.

On the subject of Chane, can this barrage of outrageous comments possibly be good public relations? Are they shooting themselves in the foot?
Submitted by JM at 7/18/2008 12:23:12 AM

Punchbag? Well, that's just silly. I might call the Episcopal Organization some other kind of bag. Starts with a "D". You can fill in the blanks.

Aren't they just playing to the choir? To the court of public opinion as understood in New York City?

In most professions, there is a line you can't cross in terms of criticizing head office or the CEO, without getting fired for cause. I suspect however that Chane can describe Jesus's words as "demonic" with impunity. Could it be because the organization he works for sees Jesus more as a mascot than a CEO?

A very good point, Michael D, and I think it shows that VGR's, et al., insistence on being "orthodox" on everything but this one thing is a sham. If Jesus is Lord as Christian belief has always described him then the witness of his apostles as contained in the New Testament and the witness of the older covenant cannot be simply ruled irrelevant.

Pardon me, but I think John Chane has a point. TEC didn't deserve to be turned into a punching bag. But ++Rowan's inability to lead has made it so. What TEC did deserve, in 2003, was a firm animadversion to not consecrate VGR - or else. When they did so, they should have been cut loose and a new Anglican body recognized in America. Period.

I think the Head of the Church has already fired Chane, but Chane refused to turn in the uniform.

Among other things I thought the new religion did not believe in Satan and demons. I guess they only use Bible stuff when it suits them.
